St. Patrick's Day Green Pudding Dessert

You have to try this easy St. Patick's Day treat.  Found the recipe at Kroma Design Studio in which she makes it in a trifle bowl.  I changed it a little and served this in martini glasses.  Did this for a couple reasons.  One, I don't own a trifle bowl.  Two, it helps with portion control -- no seconds!  And three, I thought any leftovers would have squishy oreos the next day.  This way any leftover oreos can be stored in a zip lock bag and jello in a container so another batch can be put together.  No squishyness allowed!  Here is what you need:
St. Patrick’s Day Green Pudding {printable here}

2 Boxes (4 serving size each) Jell-O Vanilla Instant Pudding
3 ½ Cups Cold Milk
1 teaspoon Green Food Coloring
1 Tub Cool Whip (8 oz.)
1 18 oz. Package Oreos, coarsely crushed
Shamrock Candies, Cookies, etc. for garnish


Pour milk into large bowl and stir in food coloring.  Add pudding mixes and beat with a wire whisk 2 minutes or until well blended.  Let stand 5 minutes.  Gently stir in Cool Whip.  In a trifle bowl or individual glasses layer crushed cookies and pudding mixture.  Garnish as desired.  Refrigerate for at least an hour or until ready to serve.

Teri's Tips:
  • At the grocery store look for an individual bottle of green food coloring in the baking section instead of buying a package of several different colors.
  • You can use the leftover green food coloring in the toilet on St. Patrick's Day.  You know -- the Leprechaun didn't flush.
  • Be real careful opening the bottle of food coloring.  It will stain your fingers.  Don't ask how I know this.
  • You can find the Shamrock candies at Michael's for $1.
